Our guests love using Field & Steam Bozeman as a launchpad for unforgettable days outside. Here are a few favorite ways to explore the region:
Hiking & Trail Running
The “M” Trail, just five minutes from the lodge, offers sweeping views of the Gallatin Valley on a 2.4-mile loop. Nearby favorites also include Palisade Falls and Lava Lake. In summer, trails throughout the Bridger Range and Gallatin National Forest open up even more terrain to explore.
Fly Fishing
Bozeman sits between three Blue Ribbon rivers—the Gallatin, Madison, and Yellowstone—making it a fly fishing hub. Local shops like Montana Troutfitters and Yellow Dog Fly Fishing offer supplies and local expertise.
Winter Sports
Bridger Bowl (just 20 minutes away) and Big Sky Resort (about an hour) offer excellent downhill skiing and snowboarding. For Nordic trails and snowshoe routes, head to Lindley Park, Hyalite Canyon, or Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
Scenic Drives & Wildlife Viewing
Cruise the Gallatin Canyon for wildlife sightings and river access, or head to Hyalite Reservoir for paddleboarding, picnics, and waterfall hikes. Yellowstone National Park’s north entrance is just 90 minutes away—perfect for spotting bison, elk, geysers, and more.
